New Consumer Engagement Consultant starts at Health Issues Centre

In an exciting new initiative, Health Issues Centre has appointed a Consumer Engagement Consultant. Phil Flanagan (pictured) will work with individual health services looking to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their consumer engagement working groups and advisory committees.

The initiative comes out of the extensive review HIC conducted of Victorian Consumer Advisory Committees in the first half of 2019. It is intended to address some of the common challenges identified in the review. These include governance and relational issues, workplan development, representative recruitment and broadening consultations to include marginalised, vulnerable and seldom heard communities.

The program will be piloted on-site with our initial partners Alfred Health. It is intended to provide models of best practice and mentoring customised to local health service circumstances.

Phil Flanagan took up the post of Consumer Engagement Consultant on December 2, 2019.
