Applications open for funded consumer engagement training and support
Applications due date has been extended until COB Friday 15 November 2019.

Health services wishing to increase their skills and capacity in the area of consumer and community engagement can now submit expressions of
interest for free skills training and specialist support packages.

These are delivered by Health Issues Centre and funded by Safer Care Victoria. Eligible health services are urged to apply now, as packages are
limited.

Training and professional development expert at Health Issues Centre Dr Tere Dawson said, “These packages are highly sought after in the sector
and very well regarded by experts in consumer engagement.

“Previous participants include a variety of senior management, clinical and non-clinical staff, Boards and consumers from health services right across Victoria. They have provided great feedback about how engaging, practical and insightful the skills training and support packages are and how much value they added in helping busy health services better engage with consumers and consider their needs.

“This is a great opportunity for metro health services to access skills training for staff and consumers and for rural and small regional health
services with tight budgets to make the most of fully funded training and support programs.

Costs associated with the training and support package delivery are covered by Safer Care Victoria; but applicants are required to contribute
$500 to help cover the cost of delivery.”

Skills training Workshops: Each health service is eligible to submit expressions of interest for up to three skills training workshops in total.
There are a limited number of skills training workshops available.

Consumer Engagement Support packages: There are only twelve support packages available to small regional and rural health services comprising
training and support. These are delivered over an extended period and provide tailored value to organisations depending on their needs.
