The Board of Health Issues Centre is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison Coughlan as the new CEO for HIC following an extensive and rigorous recruitment process. Alison brings to the role a breadth and depth of experience which she will use to continue to build on the consumer participation and engagement work HIC is recognised for, over many years.

Alison Coughlan has a research and public health background and almost 30 years’ experience working at a state, national and global level with more than 80 organisations as a researcher, policy maker, advocate, leader, consultant and board director. She is passionate about consumer engagement in health which has been a strong and enduring theme of her work for the past 25 years. Alison is excited to be joining the team at Health Issues Centre at a time when transformational change is so dearly needed in the health sector. A time when a diversity of voices of lived experience must be heard and the incredible value of co-production harnessed to create better health for all.

Alison will formally take up her role on the 12th of December 2022. The Board welcomes Alison and looks forward to working closely with her to achieve our strategic agenda of transformational change for better health outcomes for everyone.
