It is a requirement of several national and Victorian quality and safety standards to partner with consumers in health services governance. For example, Standard 2: Partnering with consumers in the new edition of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) and the Safer Care Victoria Partnering in Healthcare Framework.
It is important for consumer representatives and community leaders to have the skills and knowledge to participate effectively in governance. This workshop will help participants to understand the main principles of governance, familiarise themselves with the terminology, data and information used in governance, the need for stakeholder engagement and the ethics issues involved in corporate governance.
What do we offer?
This workshop has been designed to enhance the skills of consumer representatives to identify the main aspects of governance and be effective members of health services’ governance structures. The workshop includes formal presentations, case studies, activities and time for participants to share their own experience in corporate governance.
This workshop is ideal for health services’ Boards and consumer representatives engaged in health services’ governance committees and Boards.
We encourage consumers and board members to seek funding from their health service to cover the cost of this training.
